15 members of the band came to play for the morning service at Chandler's Ford Methodist Church on Sunday 19th May 2019. The service was led by Rev Dr Sarah McClelland a visiting minister from St Francis church in Valley Park. Despite the band missing a few members the overall sound was quite balanced and there was many positive comments received after the service. The service started in unusual fashion with the congregation singing happy birthday to Brian to celebrate a big birthday this weekend. Brian has played in the band since it was formed in 1961, and still plays solo cornet today. The first hymn was Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty for which the band played the tune 'Nicaea' from the Salvation Army's traditional hymn tune book. We used this book as well to play the tune 'Austria' for the final hymn. The second hymn was 'Come on and Celebrate' arr. Simon Farrenden. Other hymns were 'Father God, I Wonder' and 'All Heaven Declares' and for the offertory we played 'Light of the World, Here I am to worship'. The band finished with two hymns as the congregation departed, 'How Great Thou Art' and 'In the Strength of the Lord'.
