The band had a busy day on Saturday 30th June 2018, during the afternoon it was playing at St Cross Fete, followed in the evening by playing as part of the Company’s Awards and Achievements presentation evening. St Cross fete was celebrating its 150th anniversary and the band were invited to play 3 sessions each approx. 25 minutes long. We opened up with ‘Barnard Castle’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Bless em All’, ‘Connecticut Capers’ and ‘Anchor Song’. After that it was time to find refreshment and some shade on what was a very hot afternoon. Our second session included the pieces ‘Marjsparade’, ‘Mancini Magic’, ‘My Guy’, ‘Nar Solen’ and ‘The New Recruit’. Special thanks must go to Jack B and Jonathan B who returned to the band to help out for the day in the trombone and euphonium sections respectfully. Our final set included ‘When your Smiling’, ‘Gaelic Blessing’ and finally ‘Anna Magdelena’. The event also marked the first outing for 2 new feather flags recently purchased to help advertise the company’s presence at events.
