Caravan Camp Service

8 members of the band either pitched up their tents or rolled down to Bridgwater, Somerset in the caravans to help provide the music for the act of worship at the Methodist Caravan Club service over the weekend of 25/ 26th August. The caravan club members were spending a long weekend in Bridgewater and the band were invited to join them for as long or short as they liked, but to include the Sunday morning worship. Luckily the club had access to a converted barn as the rain was pretty torrential. The 8 band and 25 congregation were packed into the barn which gave a lovely atmosphere. The service was led by Gordon Chambers along the theme of ‘Jubilee’ to reflect and celebrate that it was the 50th caravan club holiday this year. The band warmed up with two hymns prior to the service ‘Will Your Anchor Hold’ and ‘O Lord my God’ . 6 hymns were played during the service, ‘Be Still for the Presence of the Lord’, ‘Now is the Time’, ‘All things Bright and Beautiful’, ‘Colours of Day’, ‘Will you Come and Follow’ and finally ‘Lord for the Years’. After the service we finished with ‘Go in the Strength of the Lord’, before all players and congregation retired for anniversary cake and coffee, before dashing back to the caravans for sanctuary from the weather.
