The Sunday band consisting of 14 members provided the music for the evening service on Palm Sunday (25th March) at Chandler's Ford Methodist Church for a service led by Mr Tom Belshaw.
The opening hymn 'All Glory laud and honour' was sung to the Salvation Army's tune 'St. Theodulph'. This was followed by the hymn, (and tune) 'Make Way, Make Way'. The third hymn was 'Christ is the World Light' which was arranged by Simon Farrenden. We then played Geo Hawkins arrangement of 'Londonderry Air' for the hymn 'I Cannot Tell why he, who Angels Worship' before moving onto the final hymn 'Ride on in Majesty' for which we played the Salvation Army's tune 'Winchester New'. Added to the hymns we played 'Great is the Darkness' by the Salvation Army for the offertory, which we had played as a group the day before for the music festival. After the service we played 'In His Presence' from the Salvation Army's Scripture Based Songs publication as the congregation departed.
There were positive comments from the congregation after the service about the good balance and sound of the band as well as some who particularly liked the 'Great is the Darkness' tune we played for the offertory.
