On Saturday 24th March the band took part in the BB/ GB National Southern Music Festival.
Many members of the band performed solos, duets, small and large ensembles on instruments ranging from strings, percussion, vocals, woodwind as well as brass.
The band had two entries, the Sunday band, which meets every few weeks for an hour to play through some more challenging music than that which we would play on a usual band practice, and the full brass band.
The Sunday band performed three pieces, 'March- Happy All The Day' by Christopher Ward, then a change of pace with 'As the Dear' and finishing with Geoffrey Nobes arrangement of 'Jesus Good Above all Other'
The full band also performed three pieces starting with the fanfare march 'Lichfield' by R.Kaighin. Then a complete contrast of style with the hymn tune 'Great is the Darkness' published by the Salvation Army. The band finished with the upbeat and jazzy 'Bandstand Boogie' by Stuart Johnson.
Well done to everyone who took part whether it was performing a solo or performing as part of the full band, I hope you enjoyed the day.
