Micheldever Fete

The band were invited back to perform at Micheldever Village Fete on Saturday 15th July. It was a cloudy day, but stayed dry and warm enough to perform outdoors comfortably. The band were asked to play three sessions each lasting for approx. 45 minutes which ran alongside games and activities which were running in the main arena.

Many of the pieces we performed were pieces we have been playing throughout the year such as ‘The New Recruit’ by G Southwell, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ by A Menken and ‘My Guy’ by Smokey Robinson. We also performed a few pieces which we had not performed to a public audience previously such as ‘Bouquet de Paris’ arr. J McInnes-Smith, ‘The Darling Buds of May’ by B Guard and P Burley, and the march ‘Don Pedro’ by j Nijs. We tried to vary the styles and genres of music over the three sessions by playing a mixture of marches, Disney classics, traditional brass and more reflective easy listening tunes, hopefully this was appreciated by the audience, may of which commented on the nice sounds.

Our thanks go to Jack Boyles who made the special effort to come down from London for the event to help out the bass section which would have otherwise been a little light. Thanks Jack.
