The band started July by playing for the Sunday morning service on 2nd July 2017 at Chandler’s Ford Methodist church. The service was led by Rev. Peter Cornick and was a ‘Church with Choices’ service. These services are held once a month and revolve around a theme, in this case Telling Our Story, and half way through the service you can decide whether you wish to remain in the church and listen to a sermon or get up and choose from one of the other activities organised. There are usually 3 or 4 alternative options to choose from, with 1 or 2 suitable for children, but all still relate back to the central theme.
Anyway back to the band and the music, 24 members of the band were in attendance for this service, we welcomed Zara and Alec who were playing their first public engagements since joining the band, so well done to them. We started with the Introit ‘Jesus Calls us here to meet him’. We then had a mixture of traditional hymns ‘Great is Faithfulness’, ‘Hyfrydol’, ‘Blessed Assurance’ and ‘Tell me the Old Old Story’ and then some more modern songs ‘Over All the earth’, ‘Majesty’ and for the offertory ‘king of Kings – Majesty’.
