Sunday Evening Service

Writer's picture: Gemma VirtanenGemma Virtanen

The day after St Cross fete the band were asked to provide the music for the Sunday evening worship at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church. The service was led by Rev. Peter Cornick which meant he couldn’t play himself, however 20 members of the band turned out to provide the music. We started with some incidental music prior to the service, then during the service played ‘Praise my Soul’ and ‘Praise to the Lord’ both of which were taken from the Salvation Army’s Scripture Based Songs publication. We then played 2 hymns from the Salvation Army’s magnify book ‘ I Will Offer up my Life’ and ‘When I survey’. The final 2 hymns were both arranged by Simon Farrenden ‘Your Words to me are Life and Health’ and ‘God of Grace’. We finished the service with a couple more hymns as the congregation departed for refreshments.
