The band was asked to play for the Sunday morning service on 26 February 2017. 19 members of the band played for the communion service led by Rev. Andrew Bird. Pieces played were ‘Father I Place into Your Hands’ and ‘Come on and Celebrate’ both arr. by Simon Farrenden. 3 hymns from the Salvation Army’ traditional hymn tune book were played, ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness’, ‘Sagina’ and ‘Stand up for Jesus’. There was one new song for the band and the congregation to learn, for which we played ‘Lord, I come Before Your Throne of Grace’ from the Salvation Army’s Magnify publication. Two further pieces were played ‘Festive Parade’ by Darrol Barry was used for the offertory and after the service ‘When the Saints go Marching In’ by Edrich Siebert, to show our support for Southampton Football club who played in the EFL league cup final a few hours after the service.
