The band’s first engagement of the new session was the evening service at Chandler’s Ford Methodist Church on Sunday 2 October.

The service was a fairly traditional service led by Mrs Delcie Dalby, one of the circuit’s local preachers. 23 members of the band performed a total of 5 hymns along with music before and after the service. Hymn tunes ‘Carlisle’ and ‘Regent Square’ from the Salvation Army tune book were played for two of the hymns, however it was the version of ‘Praise my Soul’ played for the offertory which marked a new chapter for the band. The version of ‘Praise my Soul’ played was from a new compilation of modern hymns/songs entitled ‘Scripture Based Songs’, also published by the Salvation Army. This was the first time we had used the new hymn book since purchasing earlier this summer.

We hope the congregation enjoyed the new arrangement as well as the more traditional tunes played for the hymns.
