On Saturday 25th September 2021 the band was invited to perform at Micheldever village fete. The fete would normally be held in July when the weather can be more predictable however luckily it stayed dry, although fairly overcast for most if the afternoon.
After missing the fete in 2020 due to Covid it was good to be able to play and perform to the general public. The band was reduced this year to just 12 players due to the unavailability of a number of members, however we thank Claudia, Terry, Jack and Jack for standing in and ensuring a good performance was possible with low numbers.
The band played 3 sessions interspersed with raffle prize ceremonies and dog show events in the main arena. Our opening set included pieces 'Pendine', 'The Lion King' and 'El Paso' . We then performed 'Eternal Flame' featuring a solo from Alec and 'In Christ Alone' from the Salvation Army's Scripture Based Songs compilation book. The SA book was used later on as well when we played 'In His Presence' and 'Praise My Soul'. These were mixed in with performances of 'Mancini Magic', 'The Muppett Show', 'High Spirits' and 'I Will Follow Him'. Our final set saw us finish with two marches 'Home Again' and 'Sagina'.
All in all despite being a smaller band this Year the overall sound was good, and it was important for the band to get back out performing to the wider public after an 18 month gap.
