A band of approx. 12 players visited Hart Plain Church on Sunday 19 December 2021 to provide the music for their annual carol service. It was a traditional service carried out by candle light. It started with 'Once in Royal David's City' followed by 'Hark the Herald'. Further carols and readings followed before we played a special carol. The carol 'Rejoice! The Saviour is Here' was written especially for Hart Plain Church.
The band played well and had a good balance, and finished with 'O Come all ye Faithful'.
A small ensemble visited the Rose Window Lodge on Monday 20 December to provide carols for the members. We opened up with 'Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer' and 'O Come all ye Faithful'. We then took requests from the members who were all in fine voice. 'Away in a Manger', 'Jingle Bells' and 'Good King Wencelas' followed.
It was only a matter of time before the request for '12 Days of Christmas' came quickly followed by 'Ding Dong Merrily'. We finished the evening with 'We Wish you a Merry Christmas'.
The band also played outside Chandlers Ford Methodist Church on Christmas morning, and accompanied the congregation for the Christmas morning service. We were helpfully assisted by a very confident 6 year old conductor, and an enthusiastic 3 year old percussion player!
