The band were invited by the Hampshire Youth Network (HYN) to attend a Jubilee Youth Celebration service at Winchester Cathedral on Friday 20th May 2022. The event was organised between HYN and Winchester Cathedral to start celebrations for the Queens platinum jubilee.
The band performed outside the cathedral for approx. 45 mins in the lead up to the start of the service. We started with 'Home Again', 'I Will Follow Him' and 'Jesus is Lord'. As the numbers of people arriving increased we had a captive audience so continued with 'The Muppett Show', 'Over There' and 'Taxi'.
Various other uniformed groups (such as Scouts, Girl Guides, Police cadets, Boys Brigade plus others) then arrived at the cathedral after parading through the city to be greeted by the major and other dignitaries.
We finished our performance as people entered the cathedral and took their seats, although there was still a good number of people listening to us play ' The Lion King', 'Oh, Listen to the Band' and 'El Paso'.
